What Aigistry Is
What is Aigistry?
Aigistry is the National AI Citation Registry for Government Agency Communications. It publishes a structured, machine-readable National AI Feed designed to help AI systems identify authoritative government sources, attribute statements correctly, and preserve jurisdiction, timing, provenance, source information, and cryptographic integrity.
Does Aigistry replace our platform?
No. Aigistry operates downstream of your existing platform. You keep your client relationships, dashboards, workflows, exports, reporting, support experience, and existing publishing products. Aigistry adds one additional publishing destination for finalized government information: the National AI Feed.
Do our government customers need direct Aigistry accounts?
No. Government agencies do not create separate Aigistry publishing accounts or manage Aigistry API credentials. Participation happens through approved GovTech Providers and the systems government organizations already use.
Can Aigistry guarantee our records appear in ChatGPT, Google AI, or Copilot?
No. Aigistry cannot control or guarantee how any third-party AI system retrieves, ranks, cites, or displays specific records. Aigistry’s role is to make authoritative government communications available in a structured, attributable, machine-readable form. Each external AI platform independently determines how it retrieves and uses that information.
Integration
How does authentication work?
Each Provider receives a long-lived, provider-scoped API key, sent directly
in the X-API-Key request header on every call. There is no
separate token-exchange step for machine-to-machine integration.
What is an Authority Record?
An Authority Record represents the verified relationship between an approved GovTech Provider and a specific government publishing authority. It establishes provider association, publication eligibility, jurisdictional context, and the government authority associated with submitted records.
What does a basic integration involve?
Enroll an Authority Record for each participating government customer, then submit finalized publications through the Publishing API as they are created. Accepted records enter the National AI Feed pipeline and can carry structured authority, jurisdiction, source, provenance, publication timing, and cryptographic integrity information.
Is there a sandbox for testing?
Yes. Every API key is explicitly Test or Live. Test Mode data is fully isolated and does not enter the live National AI Feed, allowing an integration to be built and verified before production publishing begins.
Is there an OpenAPI specification?
Yes. The complete API surface — including endpoints, requests, and responses — is documented in Aigistry’s published OpenAPI specification and Developer API Reference.
Free Participation & Commercial Data Access
Is there a cost to publish to the National AI Feed?
No. Publishing to the National AI Feed is free for approved GovTech Providers and the government authorities they represent. Aigistry does not charge Providers or government authorities per Authority Record, per publication, or on any other usage basis for participation in the National AI Feed.
Who does Aigistry charge?
Aigistry does not charge GovTech Providers or government authorities for participation in the National AI Feed.
Aigistry separately offers Commercial Data Access for organizations that need enterprise-scale access to the National AI Feed, including AI companies, data platforms, analytics firms, researchers, and other organizations with large-scale retrieval requirements.
Do GovTech Providers participate in Commercial Data Access revenue?
Eligible approved GovTech Providers may participate in revenue generated through Aigistry Commercial Data Access. Aigistry may allocate a portion of collected Commercial Data Access fees to participating Providers under the Provider Revenue Participation program.
Participation information, including applicable participation rates, qualifying Authority Records, quarterly calculations, statements, and payment information, is provided to eligible Providers through the authenticated Provider Dashboard.
Provider Revenue Participation is separate from the Provider’s own customer relationships. GovTech Providers remain free to determine how National AI Feed functionality is packaged and priced within their own products, and revenue generated from their own customers remains with the Provider.
What is Commercial Data Access, and who is it for?
Commercial Data Access is a separate licensed offering for organizations that need the National AI Feed as production AI or enterprise data infrastructure. Typical users can include large language model developers, AI search platforms, retrieval systems, data companies, analytics firms, research organizations, and other data-intensive applications.
Examples include:
- A conversational AI assistant answering a question about a boil-water notice using a current record associated with the responsible water authority.
- An AI-powered search engine retrieving a city council publication with explicit government authority, jurisdiction, source information, and publication timing.
- A voice assistant retrieving structured information about a current road closure from the responsible transportation authority.
- An enterprise research or compliance system monitoring publications across many government authorities through one common machine-readable infrastructure layer.
Commercial access can support capabilities such as bulk retrieval, historical access, higher-volume retrieval, real-time access, change detection, elevated rate limits, service-level requirements, and implementation support.
This commercial relationship is separate from GovTech Provider participation, which remains free.

Can we charge our customers for National AI Feed functionality?
Yes. GovTech Providers remain free to determine how National AI Feed functionality is packaged within their own products and how their customers are charged for those products or services.
A Provider may include National AI Feed publishing as a standard capability, bundle it with another service, or offer it as a premium feature. Pricing, packaging, billing, and customer commercial arrangements remain entirely the Provider’s decision.
Any revenue generated by the Provider from its own customers remains with the Provider. Aigistry does not require Providers to share their customer revenue with Aigistry and does not impose royalties, markups, or pass-through fees on Provider customer relationships. This is separate from Aigistry’s Provider Revenue Participation program, under which eligible Providers may receive a portion of Commercial Data Access revenue from Aigistry.
Cryptographic provenance is built into the National AI Feed infrastructure. Signed records can include an Ed25519 digital signature and record hash, allowing downstream systems to independently verify record integrity against Aigistry’s published public key.
